Actor/producer Sir Brodie has a list of credits to his name that includes the recurring role of Don Harrier in the HBO series, The Outsider and a co-starring role as Pookie in Survivor’s Remorse on STARZ. Recently, we had some Q+A with Sir about his career.
Hi Sir Brodie, tell us a little a bit about yourself and how you got started in the entertainment industry?
While working as a copier salesman in Atlanta, I attended an open call for background performers for USA Network’s Necessary Roughness. I booked a role as an assistant coach. I worked for two seasons as a background performer on this show. This is where I fell in love with the industry.
I also began taking acting classes at Premier Actors Network by Dwayne Boyd. I was able to develop my craft and network with some amazing artists. While training, I was able to book several community plays and independent films as well as obtain a talent agent.
What was your first part?
My first ever SAG role was as a priest on the hit FOX series Sleepy Hollow.
Were you nervous?
Slightly, mostly because I wanted to do a good job. But once the cameras start rolling, the butterflies leave and it’s game time.
Do you have a favorite role so far?
My favorite role so far is Pookie on Starz’s series Survivor’s Remorse. It was the first role that has allowed me to have an opportunity to develop a character with a multi-episode arc.

Have you ever gotten starstruck by one of your co-stars?
No, because I started out as a background performer, then a stand-in performer before booking a principal role. Once I was a principal performer, it was just like any other job. You go to work and bring your A-game.
Tell us about your worst audition.
My worst audition was one of my very first ever auditions. I basically didn’t know what I was doing. That’s why its important to get training. I tried to memorize a Samuel L. Jackson monologue from Pulp Fiction and perform it. Bad move! Especially since I watched the video in my car 15 minutes before I went in for the audition. So you know how that went! But it was an event that made me totally focus-in on training. I would never be that embarrassed again!
Out of all of the sets you’ve been on, was there one that was the most fun?
Fortunately, I’ve had fun on every set I’ve been on. I think that I’m so appreciative of the opportunity to be there that I try to enjoy every moment.
What was the most challenging scene you’ve done?
The scene on the Fox series Gotham. I had to wear a super tight all leather costume to portray a biker gang leader. What made it so challenging is them running a tube up the sleeve to create blood squirting and the tube kept crimping because the costume was so tight. And every time I would fall to why knees the pants were so tight that they wouldn’t allow my knees to bend. We had to cut each sequence so that the stunt coordinator could assist me in getting into position.
If you could play anyone in history on screen, who would it be and why?
I don’t have a particular individual. But I would love to portray someone with a very complex personality.

I know everything has been on hold, but are there any upcoming projects we can expect to see you in?
Yes, I will be making a guest appearance on the new Starz network series P-Valley by Katori Hall this summer.
When you’re not acting, what can we find you doing?
I’m never not acting. Acting for me entails a lot of things. Studying, training, reading, watching movies and shows, people watching, auditioning, working with other actors on their auditions as well as helping them prepare for roles and working on headshots, photos, and demo reel. But I do enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandkids.
