2023’s dinosaur comedy-horror The Invisible Raptor is now available for digital download on platforms like Apple TV, Amazon, and YouTube Movies. The film stars Mike Capes, David Shackelford, Caitlin McHugh Stamos, and Sean Astin.

When a secret experiment spirals out of control, it unleashes a hyper-intelligent, invisible raptor. With the surrounding neighborhood in danger, a team of unlikely heroes steps in. Dr. Grant Walker (Mike Capes), a failed paleontologist working at Dino World, leads the charge alongside his ex-girlfriend Amber (Caitlin McHugh Stamos), Denny, an unhinged security guard (David Shackelford), and local celebrity farmer Henrietta (Sandy Martin).

If your brand of horror leans toward ridiculousness, potty humor, and gore—think piles of raptor poop, popped-out bloody eyeballs, and an invisible monster—this one’s for you.

While I appreciate the creativity of The Invisible Raptor, directed by Mikey Hermosa and written by Mike Capes and Johnny Wickham, what I couldn’t get past was the numerous animal killings. Everyone knows the unspoken rule in cinema: you don’t kill the dog. Or maybe that’s just my rule. But this film goes further, killing other animals as well.

Aside from the unforgivable animal victims, the film does feature a standout performance from David Shackelford (There’s Something About Mary, Kingpin) along with plenty of nods to Spielberg classics like Jurassic Park and Jaws.
