Natalie Jane isn’t just a pop star on the rise — her star is soaring. With over 2 billion global streams, viral TikTok performances, and recognition as an artist to watch by Grammy.com, she’s followed up breakout singles like “fallin”, “girls will b girls”, and the dance anthem “UH-OH” with Loud Luxury by doing what she does best: connecting with fans through honest, emotional pop.
In February, she is kicking off her brand new tour supporting her album, The World I Didn’t Want.
StarShine sat down with Natalie for a Q&A to discuss the tour, her fans, and her music.
You titled your album The World I Didn’t Want. What does that name mean to you, and why did you decide to use it as the album title?
That title is actually from a song lyric in track seven, “Gone”. I was thinking of names for this album and nothing was really clicking, so I went through my favorite song lyrics to see if anything resonated. When I got to that one, it was so obvious that it should be the title because it represents so many different things.
In the song, it refers to your ex-love giving someone else the world you chose not to have. But it also refers to growing up and leaving the world you don’t want behind. That’s the world I didn’t want — I’m heading toward the world I do want. It had multiple meanings, and it instantly stuck out. I was like, ‘That’s the album.

What can fans expect from this tour?
I’m doing this tour really differently. I usually go into it with my track list and little moments I’m excited for, but this time I’m dancing for the first time on tour, which is scary, but I’m excited.
I’ve been planning the merch for the past six months. We have a whole lighting setup that’s not just lights — it’s a whole set, which I’ve never done before. Tour is my favorite part of this whole career, and I’m really trying to elevate everything and make the $30 ticket worth it.
Do you feel like this tour represents a specific chapter of your life, or is it pointing toward something new you’ll be teasing?
I will be teasing a song or two on this tour, but the biggest difference is that this time I’m focusing on everything together. On past tours, I focused on outfits, or the setlist, or things separately.
Now I’m thinking about how the setlist and interludes align — not just random songs in an order, but what story they’re telling and what energy is flowing through the set. We start high, bring it down low, and then bring it back up. There’s a lot more planning of every detail. This is my third world tour. I’ve learned so much from the others, and this time I feel like I’m starting to get it.
What do you think the experience will be like performing these songs live versus in the studio?
Live performance is just better. I’m a firm believer in that. Everything I make and write is about how it will look and sound on stage. That’s what I’m most excited for — seeing the live experience come to life. It’s going to be fun.
Are there any cities or countries you’re especially excited to perform in?
I’m most excited for Munich because that’s my birthday show. Last year, Munich was my favorite city on tour. The energy was just great.
When my agent asked where I wanted to be for my birthday, I said Munich, hands down.
Any sights you’d like to see in Munich?
Honestly, it’s the crowd. People ask me what my favorite city in Europe is, and it’s always based on the crowd’s energy rather than what the city looks like.
Except for Amsterdam. Great crowd, great city. I want to move there one day.

What are your top three touring essentials?
My Pandy, my panda bear — he goes everywhere with me.
My glam case. It’s not a regular makeup bag; it’s a whole industrial box with everything you’d need, like industrial setting spray. So many chemicals, definitely gets in my lungs, but my face looks great.
And hand sanitizer. After meet-and-greets, I basically give myself a shower with it. If I had tickets to see my favorite artist for months and I’m not feeling well that day, I’m still going, and I understand that mentality, like respect. Go, see your favorite artist, but if I get sick, the tour is done. So hand sanitizer is essential.
How do you stay grounded as your career continues to grow?
My family keeps me grounded, especially my sister. I’ll tell her something cool that happened and she’ll be like, ‘Natalie, that’s really cool, but relax.’
She lives in San Diego, and I visit her a lot. We’ll spend a whole day off our phones at the beach, and it really resets me. My family definitely keeps me grounded.
Fans connect deeply with your honesty. How does their feedback and shared stories impact you?
I love everything I write, but I don’t like putting out music if they don’t love it too. That’s why I love social media — you can see what people resonate with.
But the most special moments are meeting fans in person. When they hold my hands and tell me how a song changed their life or saved them — that’s something you can’t get through comments. That’s why tour is my favorite. I get to meet the people I’m making the music for.
Is there a message you’d like to share with your fans — and future fans?
I love you guys. You’ve got to come to a show, though.
