We recently interviewed Camryn about her music so our readers can learn more about this rising star!

Hi Camryn! How did you get started in music?

When I was younger I was always singing and performing for my family. One day I asked my parents for singing lessons and I haven’t stopped since.

Do you remember your first favorite song?

Yes! “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele.

You released your first single that you wrote yourself at just 10-years-old. Tell us about “Better Days” and what made you want to write it.

“Better Days” was written about a teen in my town who took her own life. I thought that it was awful that someone had to go through something so heartbreaking. I felt it was right to spread awareness through music.

Earlier in the year, you released a single called “Ain’t No Second Chance”. What inspired that song and what was the recording process like?

The song was inspired by past relationships and friendships. The song only took 30 minutes for the first draft, then recording it took a couple of days to make the track.

Tell us about Acapop! KIDS and how you became part of that.

I saw an ad online for an audition and I knew I wanted to try out. I got into the group, and had so much fun when I started recording with the group and directors. It was a great experience.

You obviously have a maturity for your age in your lyrics and musical talent. Do you find that people judge you immediately based on your age? If so, how do you deal with that?

I mostly get positive reactions to my voice. I just ignore the hate comments and focus on the support people give me.

I know you’re big on mental health organizations. What are some of the ones you’re involved with?

I am not involved with one particular group, but am happy to work with any group that supports the cause.

During this tough year, what has helped you cope?

Music, writing, my family, my friends, and art.

Do you have any new music or projects coming up that you can share with us?

I have new music in the making, that I plan on releasing as soon as I can. Things have been moving slower because of the pandemic.

If you could dedicate one song to the world right now, which song would you choose?

“Where is the Love?” by The Black Eyed Peas.
